Dr. Sarah

Background & Journey to Chiropractic

Dr. Sarah Smith is a native of Ankeny, Iowa, where she grew up playing sports, riding horses, and cheering on her beloved Cyclones. Throughout her childhood, she faced ongoing health struggles, including recurrent ear infections, seasonal allergies, chronic strep throat, a tonsillectomy, and even anxiety-induced reflux. After years of relying on medications to mask her symptoms, she was introduced to chiropractic care, which allowed her to fully wean off allergy and reflux medications she had taken for over a decade. Chiropractic gave her a new life filled with peace, health, and a sense of purpose, inspiring her to dedicate her career to helping others experience the same transformation.

Education & Professional Training

Dr. Sarah earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Iowa State University, giving her a solid foundation in neurology, chemistry, and physiology down to the cellular level. She went on to complete her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic, the birthplace of chiropractic care. At Palmer, she expanded her knowledge of the human body, focusing on how symptoms develop, the underlying cause, and how to address health concerns at their root.

Passion & Expertise

A licensed chiropractic physician in the state of Iowa, Dr. Sarah has advanced training and certifications in:

  • Webster Technique, a gentle approach designed to support pregnancy
  • Advanced Activator Technique, a low-force, instrument-assisted method appropriate for all ages

Her greatest passion is caring for children and families. She has specialized training in pediatric and family chiropractic through The Pediatric Experience and Life University. Dr. Sarah has experience supporting children with ADHD, anxiety, autism, and developmental delays, helping them reach their fullest potential through neurologically focused chiropractic care.

Outside the Office

When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Gavin. Together they love camping, hiking, fishing, and golfing. She is also an avid home chef who enjoys cooking with fresh ingredients from her garden. To relax, she listens to true crime podcasts, attends worship at her church, and continues to cheer for the Iowa State Cyclones.
